DAY 14: Your OTP
"when you love someone, it’s like your tethered to them…"
What can I say about Finchel? Hmm…
Where do I start…?
I am emotionally attached to these two characters and their relationship. I love Finchel so much that sometimes I feel like I’m the only one. No one can say that they don’t love each other or never cared for the other, because that is just complete bull crap. Since they performed “Don’t Stop Believing” I have shipped them. They have such a rare and complex high school relationship. People compare season 1 Finchel to season 2 Finchel, but they are the exact same people. Rachel has always had a crush on Finn, and all through the show you know she has will always have feelings for him. Finn was the first one to actually get to know Rachel for who she is, and not the self proclaim diva. She was lonely with no friends except her two dads and her dream. She helped Finn realize his potential, and pushed him to do the right thing. Finn opened Rachel up, and showed her she doesn’t have to be selfish to get people to like her. They both help each other realize things they never thought about. Sure they made some pretty big mistakes, but a relationship isn’t perfect. The difference is that they never once lost the connection they share. Finn fell in love with the independent Rachel. They never tried to change each other, and after all the arguments and pain they found each other again. They are different and their dreams aren’t the same, but they love each other. A relationship is about compromises, and this relationship proves that they can do wonders when they work together. In Britney/Brittany they showed us both of them trying to prove the other wrong , but they needed to compromise and learn to give and take. In Duets they showed us how they let their friendship and leadership blend into their relationship. They help the other club members to feel like they belong. In Special Education, we see that when they don’t talk it out or even listen that it messes things up. They always held there friendship though, and that’s what I love about them. They way they can never not be around the other. Rachel cheated on Finn, so Finn should’ve ignored her and not care about her. No, because that’s his best friend. The one person who won’t judge him, and make him feel stupid. The one person who truly knows him for him, and not the football star. Rachel loves Finn, because he was the first person who didn’t judge her by her personality. The one person who she knew would always be there for her. Their friendship is what gets them through, and I do believe they will “go the distance”, and that Finn will go to New York with her. People can say that they are too young, but when you think back and look at everything they’ve been through. They aren’t the rare high school couple. Being tethered to someone must be permanent. That’s why they had Sue say that about her sister. It’s always going to be there, because that is the person that means the most to you than anyone else.
